On the left  with the swirls is the Fellowship of the Ring from the Folio Society, UK. This swirly set first came out in 1977 and is cloth-bound, illustrated by Iingahild Grathmer.   With it are some intriguing all-in-one editions - the grey-black one in the center is a Dutch translation. The last one is part of a painting by Donato Giancola - Very dramatic pose. That edition is from the Science Fiction Book Club.
